A quick and delicious orange chicken dish that combines sweet and savory flavors, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb chicken breasts, diced
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • Cooked white rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. Whisk the sauce: In a small bowl, combine the orange juice, soy sauce, honey, and cornstarch. Stir until smooth and set aside.
  2. Heat the oil: Warm 2 tablespoons vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  3. Cook the chicken: Add the diced chicken in a single layer. Let it sear undisturbed for about 2 minutes, then stir and continue cooking until golden and cooked through, about 5–7 minutes total.
  4. Add aromatics: Push the chicken to the side, add the minced garlic and ginger, and sauté briefly for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
  5. Finish with sauce: Pour the orange sauce over the chicken and stir to coat. Reduce heat and simmer gently for 3–5 minutes until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy.
  6. Serve: Spoon the hot orange chicken over cooked white rice and serve immediately with extra sauce from the pan.

Notes

Use fresh orange juice for the best flavor. For a gluten-free version, use tamari instead of soy sauce.
